History

For more than 50 years, since 1968, the Raleigh International Folk Dancers have been coming together to dance with enthusiasm and joy. Whether young or old, or simply young at heart, RIFD dancers are dedicated to learning and promoting dances from the different cultures around the world.

We meet every Friday night, year-round, at Glen Eden Pilot Park in Raleigh starting at around 6:30 pm and dance until about 10:00 pm Early in the evening we focus on teaching and doing easier dances. Later you'll often find us mixing in more intermediate and advanced dances. No matter what happens, we strive to create a diverse dance experience that we hope meets every dance appetite.

Remember, we are open to the public and no partners are necessary to participate. And no dance experience is required (we'll give you that!). The cost is also a bargain -- $3 donation (or more if you wish) to off-set our rent of the park facility. And even if you just want to come, sit, and see what we're all about, you are more than welcome to do so and, we hope, make a few new friends along the way.

Give us a call or e-mail us. We'll be more than happy to answer any questions.
